LawNet members to support new LexisNexis online platform
A tie-up between leading law firm network LawNet and LexisNexis will open the door to further online markets for LawNet member firms, following the announcement of the new LexisSmart platform.
Through the platform, LexisNexis will give consumers and small business owners the opportunity to create their own legal documents online, with 300 documents available for use across various UK jurisdictions. The online service is backed up by an option to have a personal lawyer review for an additional fixed fee, through the LexisNexis Lawyer Review Panel.
The deal sees LawNet as one of the founding members of the Lawyer Review Panel for the new service, providing online customers with access to local specialists at the 68 mid-size independent firms that comprise the network across the UK and Eire.
LawNet firms will also have the option to incorporate a branded online legal documents element to their own website for documents such as simple wills, buy-to-let leases and business start up.
Director of services for LawNet, Helen Hamilton-Shaw commented: “This is another building block in our strategy to support our member firms in securing a strong position in online markets, and to explore the potential offered by unbundling aspects of their service offering.”
“What’s important in any shift to online solutions is ensuring that clients can operate within their comfort zone and be assured they can have an expert eye and advice when they need it. The Lawyer Locator Review gives just that.”
Announcing the new platform and the involvement of LawNet, Rob Farquharson, LexisNexis LawyerLocator and Connect Director, said: “Law firms are keen to be involved in the online legal documents products to build new business and service cost effectively. They realise they need to respond to the opening up of the legal services market, providing online services gives them the opportunity to open 24/7.”
